WILD AND FREE BY THE SEA
TURNING PAIN INTO PURPOSE
Life's not just about catching the best waves or the perfect sunset, it's also about being present and soaking in the moment. Mindful living is all about slowing down and appreciating the little things.
Imagine sitting outside, feeling the breeze on your face, and just being in the moment. No worrying about tomorrow, no stressing about yesterday, just you and the now. This right here is the essence of mindfulness, it's like giving your brain a mini holiday.
We all do it, so busy rushing around and thinking of everything and everyone else that we don't take the time to stop and be present. We miss out on beautiful moments and opportunities when we aren't paying attention, we can be so wrapped up in the outside world. For me personally, I'm much more creative when I take time to stop and chill.
There are so many ways you can be mindful, and these all start with mindful breathing, sounds simple right? Start small, take a deep breath and really feel it. Listen to the sounds of the sea or your favourite relaxing song, practice mindful eating, eat your favourite food, be present, smell it, chew it, enjoy it.
I love to walk along the beach, and as I do, I'm always taking deep breaths in and out whilst listening to the sound of the waves. This helps me to stay grounded and re-focus, but also reminds me to be grateful of my surroundings. Being mindful and grateful go hand in hand for me, and I've managed to master this when spending time by the sea.
When learning to be mindful I always suggest accepting what you can't change, the things you have no control over. If you have no control over something which has happened and is in the past, then just accept this and let it go. The only person who suffers if you hold onto this is ultimately going to be you.
Being mindful means that you are aware of your feelings, your emotions, your thoughts, and your surroundings, to enable you to live in the moment itself. Whether sitting silently on a beach, having a break from technology, or sitting quietly in your back garden, there are so many mindfulness techniques available, and also so many benefits of mindfulness.
With gratitude,
