WILD AND FREE BY THE SEA
TURNING PAIN INTO PURPOSE
Hey ocean lovers, have you ever noticed how awesome you feel after a day by the water? Well, it's not just in your head. There's some cool science behind why being near the ocean can make you feel all chilled out and awesome. It's called "blue health," and it's all about the benefits of spending time near blue spaces like the sea, lakes, and rivers.
I've been lucky enough to grow up near the ocean reaping the many benefits, especially when it comes to mental health. With the knowledge and first hand experience I already had, I then went on to qualify as a Blue Healh Coach so that I could bring all of my passions together.
From the calming sound of waves to the fresh ocean air, learn why being near the water is nature's best therapy. Whether you're a beach bum or just love a good swim, this blog will show you why blue is the new green for health and happiness.
First up, let's talk about how the ocean is like a giant stress-buster. Scientists have found that just looking at the water can lower your stress levels (drifting). It's something to do with the colour blue and how it makes our brains feel calm and relaxed. Plus, the sound of the waves is like nature's white noise machine; it helps to soothe our minds and makes us feel at peace.
Blue Health isn't just about feeling zen though. Being by the water is also great for your physical health in so many ways. Ever gone for a jog on the beach or a swim in the sea? That’s a workout that doesn't even feel like a workout! The sand adds resistance, which is great for your muscles, and swimming is a full-body exercise that’s easy on your joints. Plus, the salty sea air is loaded with negative ions, which can improve your mood and energy levels. It's like nature’s little pick-me-up!
So, next time you’re feeling a bit stressed or need a mood boost, head to the nearest beach, lake, or river. Dive into the blue health benefits and let the water work its magic. Remember, life's always better with a little sand between your toes and the sound of waves in your ears.
Catch you on the flip side!
With gratitude,
